Default Any of you Wii owners looking forward to this?

So, the wii is finally getting next-gen quality graphics with a new shiny engine. Here's just a link to the High Voltage Quantum3 Tech Demo that showcases this engine.

Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aW9BpamQSA
IGN (Better quality) - http://media.wii.ign.com/media/142/14248157/vids_1.html

The flag runner for this engine also seems to be a promising FPS known as "The Conduit". Now this engine doesn't quite have all the bells and whistles of say your Crytek or Unreal III, but it does have a lot of potential. The engine's graphical processing capabilities, I would say are somewhere comfortably between Half Life 2 and Bioshock. The Conduit itself though as a game, needs a lot more polishing up until the engine's capabilities can be realized however.

Ehh, FPS's on the Wii always control terribly when compared to PS3 or 360 controls. COD3 was horrible to play in the Wii just because of the controls.

but metroid prime 3 controls were really good. the reason why a good shooter hasn't been made for the wii is because developers don't know exactly how to make it work.

i see what they're doing with the engine and i can't say i've seen anything like it. i may have missed it while playing but i dont think anyone has ever done so much with light refraction. the screen shots dont look very impressive texture-wise but the video is very telling for what the engine is capable of.

oh, and you cant expect the cry engine to work well on a console anyway. at least not at the level we're seeing now.

They are claiming great graphics, but it is only a tech demo, kind of like that Killzone 2 "trailer" at E3 a few years ago. When there is actually game play videos let me know.

Actually the two are quite different...

When a graphical engine is made, a tech demo is usually released to show the CAPABILITIES of that engine. There is not supposed be any gameplay... only the effects such as bump mapping, real time lighting etc etc. These are all things that the engine can achieve running at the frame rate seen in the video. It is not pre-rendered at all, or did you miss the part where the guy said the footage was all in real-time?...

When a pre-rendered trailer is made for a VIDEOGAME (not graphics engine), then yeah. Thats just showing what they -want- the game to look like, the "promise" of the game. Not the actual game itself.

This is just a Tech demo for the video engine, if you add ontop of that the Physics engine, core game engine. I doubt that the Wii could handle it, meaning that they will probably tone down the graphics a tad.

Before anyone says that the Lamp swinging means that there is a physics engine....dont.
Its too obvious its following a path :P

Looks nice. But the wii still only runs at a maximum of 576i resolution. There's only so pretty you can make something at that resolution.

Alright now you need to specify.

In E3 2005 a Killzone 2 trailer was released, it was not in real-time. The dev team never stated that it was in real-time.
This pre-rendered trailer can be seen here - http://youtube.com/watch?v=SJOds-R-WVs

In E3 2007 a Killzone 2 trailer was released, it WAS in real-time. The dev team DID state that it was in real-time.
This real-time trailer can be seen here - http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21490.html

Personally I won't further this argument anymore however, I think you have a lack of understanding for the subject at hand.

Can we please never bring that up again? Biggest advertisement fallacy I've ever seen.
